What personal data we collect and why
We collect information from you in two ways.
Your personal information
When you fill in one of our forms (such as our contact form), add a comment to a blog article, or download a document (like one of our blog articles) we might use this to get back to you, if you have asked us a question for example.
If you register for email updates or opt-in to cookies when you leave a comment, we also store the personal information you provide when you sign up or opt-in (such as your email address).
Anonymous information
We also automatically record information about how you use our site, such as when you log on, where from and the pages you visit. We use this anonymised information to help us understand how people use our site so we get to know what works best and how to make it even better.
A little more on cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These make it quicker and easier to leave another comment in the future (as your details will be pre-filled). Our cookies last for one year.
Who can see your personal information
You can see, edit, or delete your personal information, or unsubscribe from our updates, at any time.
Our web admins can also see and edit your information, but we won’t pass your information on to anyone else.
What rights you have over your data
If you have registered on our site, you can ask for an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we have to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Comments
When you leave comments on our site we collect the data shown in the comments form as well as your IP address and something called a ‘browser user agent string’. We do this to help spam detection, so we can keep our site free from people trying to mis-use it.
Embedded content from other websites
Our blog articles often include embedded links to other websites or content (such as videos, images, or articles). Embedded content from other websites follow the privacy rules of the other websites, not ours. That means they may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. That can include tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to the other website.
Changing this policy
This policy may change, but if it does we will make it clear on this page. We keep any old versions close at hand, and if we collected your information under a previous version, those are the rules that apply.
